This page explains what personal information I collect through this website, why I collect it, how it is stored, and what rights you have over it. I am the data controller for this information.

If you use the enquiry form or email me, I receive:
Nothing else is collected. There is no analytics tracking, no advertising pixel, and no cookie that identifies you. Please share only what you are comfortable putting in an email — there is nothing you need to explain before we speak, and we can talk properly in the first conversation.
I use this information for one purpose: to reply to you and, if we go ahead, to arrange an initial conversation. The lawful basis is legitimate interest — responding to someone who has contacted me about counselling — together with your consent, given when you tick the box on the form.
If anything you write in an enquiry touches on your health, that is special category data under UK GDPR. Where it does, the additional basis is Article 9(2)(h): the provision of health or social care and treatment.
The enquiry form is processed by Formspree, which passes your message to my email inbox. My email is hosted by Proton Mail, based in Switzerland, which provides encrypted storage. Both are third-party processors with their own privacy notices.
If you do not go on to become a client, I delete your enquiry within six months. If we do work together, the retention of your clinical records is covered separately in the working agreement we discuss at the start of therapy; those records are kept in line with BACP guidance and my professional insurance requirements.
No one, in the ordinary course of things. I do not sell, share or trade your information. There are two narrow exceptions, both standard in counselling practice: I discuss my work in regular clinical supervision, where clients are not identified by name; and there are rare circumstances in which the law may require disclosure, or in which serious risk to your safety or someone else's may mean I need to involve another service. Where that ever arises, I would aim to discuss it with you first wherever it is safe and possible to do so.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask me for a copy of the information I hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how it is used, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email me and I will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
This site sets no cookies of its own and does not track visitors. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may log your IP address as part of serving that request.
